Anchorage is the largest city in the state of Alaska and is located in the southern portion of the state. With around 350,000 residents, the population of Anchorage actually comprises of around 40% of the total population of the state. Summers in Anchorage are relatively cool when compared to other cities in the United States with average temperatures ranging in the 50 to 60 degree range. However, the major consideration for auto transport companies involve the winter. It’s close proximity to the ocean makes winter temperatures slightly warmer than in the central portions of the state. However, winters still host very low temperatures (averaging around 9 degrees in January and February).
If you choose to relocate to Anchorage and use auto transport services, there are a few important considerations. First of all, it is important that your vehicle is properly prepared for winter. Aluminum blocks in vehicles will likely freeze unless they are protected by a block heater and heat blanket (which must be plugged in to a nearby electrical outlet). During the summer, auto transport companies can travel to Anchorage through Canada (from the United States). However, during the winter, it may be necessary to ship the vehicle on the Pacific Ocean to successfully reach the Anchorage area.
