In 2000, the population of this Florida city was estimated at 226,419. Today, the population of Hialeah has continued to decline but the city still remains the most heavily populated city in the United States to not have a skyscraper. Located just North of Miami in the southern portion of Florida, Hialeah was once know by the slogan “All Roads Lead to Hialeah” because of its close access to most major transportation venues and all major highways in Florida. Of course, this makes Hialeah a popular and easy city for drop shippers transporting vehicles to Miami or from Miami to the rest of the United States.
2.53% of the city of Hialeah is made up of water. The major concern for auto shippers traveling through Hialeah is the threat of high winds and flooding due to nearby hurricanes. While there is not a direct hit threat form most hurricanes, severe weather from close storms can cause floods and debris that can take extended periods of time to clear. For the already stressed road crews in the area, this can mean long detours or delays on major roads. Hialeah is accessed directly by Interstate 75 from the North and Highway 826 from the South.
