Georgia

Georgia is located in the southeastern portion of the United States. It is the 9th most populated state in the country with more than 9,800,000 in July of 2009. The largest city in Georgia, Atlanta, is also it’s capital. The climate in Georgia is classified as humid subtropical but polar winds can occasionally cool the state during the winter. Average temperatures during the year range from 51 to 92 degrees F. Hurricanes are rare in Georgia as most strike the Florida pan handle and lose their strength as they travel North towards Georgia. However, tornadoes and strong winds from tropical storms can cause damage and spread debris across major roadways, resulting in traffic delays.

Of primary concern to auto shippers in Georgia is the potential for floods that can block major highways. In general, the closer an area is to the coastline of Georgia, the more vulnerable it is to heavy rainfall and strong winds. As always, cars with removable tops should be waterproofed before shipping. However, during most of the year, cars that are not rare or expensive can be shipped using an open hauler without weather or deterioration concerns.
